News| Tuesday, 09 June 2009 22:50 | The Tribune June 10, 2009 - In what could be the most convincing proof yet of the strength of the Bahamian real estate market, the local affiliate of a major international real estate franchise walked away with the regional prize for top sales again this year, leading firms in six Caribbean countries. It was the fourth consecutive year that ERA Dupuch Real Estate won the sought-after title of best in the region among ERA affiliates, the conglomerate with 38,000 brokers worldwide, but this year's win is particularly significant because of the economic conditions. "We could flatter ourselves and say it's because we are good or because we work really hard to satisfy our clients - and all that is true, but it is only part of the story," said ERA Dupuch founder and president, Peter Dupuch. "The real story and we think this is important for the industry as a whole is that we are in The Bahamas and the real estateindustry in The Bahamas healthy relative to many other places and not just the U.S."
ERA Dupuch won its award for best in region at the ERA's annual conference, held this year in San Antonio with real estate guru Suze Orman, as guest speaker. "Her message was straightforward - stand out from the crowd, know the market inside out, wow your clients with service and you will not only survive, you'll succeed," said Dupuch whose firm beat ERA affiliates in Aruba, Cayman, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Turks & Caicos as it has done consistently since 2005. | | | Wednesday, 04 March 2009 21:30 | The Tribune March 5, 2009 - An Abaconian couple who have been married for 28 years, James and Donna Rees, have both earned the BRI certification and moved up from agents to brokers at ERA Dupuch Real Estate.
"It's pretty easy to spot our office," says Mr. Rees of the Marsh Harbour premises. "It's in the Stratton Insurance Building. That's the one on the corner by the only stop light in Abaco."
The office by the island's only traffic light, and the red, white and blue ERA Dupuch sign, isn't all that sets the Rees duo apart. They are comfortable with the state of real estate in Abaco, which is holding its own against the fallout that toppled the US housing market following the sub-prime lending crisis and recession.
"In time, everything fluctuates up and down," says Mr. Rees. "We are not that concerned and will continue to do our best. Abaco is a very special place. My Dad had seen several up and downturns during his years here." Mr. Rees' father, the late Colyn Rees, was on of Abaco's best-known citizens.
"If Abaco has staying power even in challenging economic teams, showing property in the chain of scattered islands takes its own kind of stamina", says ERA Dupuch Real Estate Founder and President, Peter Dupuch.
"Nassau agents in some firms get annoyed if they have to drive from an office in town to Coral Harbour and someone doesn't show up imagine doing what Donna and James do. They may have a showing in the morning in Treasure Cay and one in the afternoon in Schooner Bay. That's a long drive for someone to say: "Sorry, it's not what I was looking for". Or they may have to go by plane, boat, buggy or golf cart, or cut through the bush with a cutlass. Still, they have worked hard and that's why they have been successful", says Mr. Dupuch.
Beyond success, Mr. Dupuch said there was something special about Donna and James Rees, who have been each other's best friend since early childhood. "Between them, every detail is covered and it's great to see that after five years back in the Bahamas they have both earned the BRI certification", he said. | | Thursday, 05 February 2009 23:53 | The Tribune February 6, 2009 - A real estate agent who recently handled $20 million in luxury condo hotel sales at The Reef on Paradise Island has been named as ERA Dupuch Real Estate's top performer for 2008.
Ten-year veteran Dave McCorquodale walked away with number one honours after zeroing in on a segment of the real estate market that has continued to thrive despite economic challenges - luxury properties. Networking and benefiting from word of mouth referrals, Mr. McCorquodale has nurtured relationships with second home owners who wanted to invest in the Bahamas. The result, amount many other single home and commercial transactions, has been 10 sales at the 22 -storey Reef, including its most expensive offering, the Ocean View Resort, a residence with a priceless view and a price tag of $7.6 million.
"Dave's success often surprises people because he appears quiet, almost like an observer, never aggressive, but he knows the market backwards and forwards, inside out, and he really listens to people, mulls over their needs, considers their timeframe, long-term plans and then he goes to work find the exact match. He rarely misses", said Peter Dupuch, founder and owner of ERA Dupuch Real Estate.
"While I am honoured to be recognized as the top broker or sales associate of the year", Mr. McCorquodale said, "i know I would not have been able to achieve all that I did without the great team of ERA Dupuch Real Estate behind me. You can't find a better, more supportive group to work with, right from flying all around the islands in our company plane to look at new listings or familiarize us with various small islands to the networking and web support we get daily. It's the team that is number one".
Since 2001, ERA Dupuch Real Estate has since become the first franchise outside the US to earn luxury market status. It has been the top-performing ERA affiliate in the Caribbean three years running, beating competition in Turks & Caicos, Aruba, the Dominican Republic, Cayman Islands and Puerto Rico.
| | | Wednesday, 17 September 2008 22:08 | The Tribune September 18, 2008 - Three Bahamian real estate brokers at ERA Dupuch Real Estate have become the first outside the US to qualify for the franchise's highesst certification in its luxury real estate division, the ERA International Collection.
"This has been an incredible year for us", said Mr. Dupuch, founder of the firm. Earlier this year, ERA Dupuch brokers walked away with Beyond Excellence Awards, joining the ranks of the top 10 per cent in the real estate industry. Mr. Dupuch added: "Now to be the first agency in the entire world outside America to make the grade for International Collection designation - and not just one broker, but three from the same firm. We are really proud and honoured, but it is also a testament to the value of property in the Bahamas."
"The International Collection is the creme de la creme of properties around the world, and when a broker qualifies, his or her listings are marketed on a whole different level, whether it is the Sunday New York Times or the Robb Report Luxury Collection," explained Mr. Dupuch.
Qualifying for the International Collection were Mr. Dupuch, Ken Chaplin and Kyla Ralston. Last year, ERA Real Estate won the prestigious J.D. Power and Associates Award for Highest Overall Satisfaction for Repeat Home Sellers Among National Full-Service Real Estate Firms. This year, its new website has won numerous awards. | | Tuesday, 26 August 2008 23:56 | The Tribune August 27, 2008 - More than 65 persons attended the entry-level course for persons hoping to obtain Bahamas Real Estate Association (BREA) licenses and become realtors.
Larry Sticca was the lecturer for the week-log course held at the British Colonial Hotel.
Currently, more than 500 persons hold BREA licenses, as they are the only persons legally entitled to engage in the real estate business in the Bahamas.
