Spanish Wells-the quaint little fishing village located on the island of St. George's Cay. Legend has it that Spanish Galleons used to stop here to fill their casks with water on their final stop back to Spain hence the name Spanish Wells. Spanish Wells is known for it's mile long beach that runs the entire northern shore of the island. The water is perfect for swimming. It s so shallow that you can walk out for hundreds of feet off the beach and still be able to stand. Spanish Wells is a thriving little island that is complettely self sufficient. They don't use the national supplier of electricty. They own their own electricity plant that is publically owned by the citizens of Spanish Wells.
